Barely a week after the Nigeria Immigration Service
(NIS), announced that it has restricted Visa issuance to about 24,000 young
Nigerians seeking to travel abroad in the past 15 months for fear that they
might join ISIS, trouble is developing at the Service as President Muhammadu
Buhari has ordered investigations into the granting of Nigerian Visa in Lebanon
to a terrorist and chief of ISIS, Ahmed Al Assir, who has been on the wanted
list of several governments.
The said Ahmed Al Assir was
said to have been arrested at Lebanon Airport on his way to Nigeria through
Egypt. The Lebanon judiciary has accused him of involvement in the death of 17
Lebanese soldiers and even sentenced him to death.
The Immigration Service that
the rank and file of the Service Headquarters, especially the Immigration boss,
Mr. David , are presently anxious about their fate, following the arrest better
described as a huge embarrassment to Nigeria and the president who wants
indicted officers identified.
