The president gave the directives when he met with the Police Service Commission (PSC), Inspector General of Police (IG) and the Ministry of Police Affairs.
He assured Nigerians that the police would receive more funding and equipment, under his administration.
The president also said provisions would be made for the recruitment of more policemen.

Buahri had on Monday announced  plans by the federal government, to recruit about 10,000 new officers and men in the police.
He told the PSC not to collect bribes from those seeking to joint the police force.
At the meeting, Buhari said he would not tolerate any extortion of money from unemployed Nigerians, in the coming recruitment into the police.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said Buhari told the officials that those in charge of recruitment and training in the police, must be above board and shun every form of extortion and underhand dealing.
