Armed with guns, cutlasses, pocket knifes among other weapons, the Oodua Peoples Congress and the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation in Lagos on Monday morning led other protesters to storm the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, demanding the sack of the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, before the March 28 elections.
The non peaceful protest was done on the busy highway while some members of the groups harassed some motorists and passers-by plying the road.
Some people, who were clad in black vest, said to be beneficiaries of the SURE-P, also constituted a sizable portion of the protesters.
They distributed leaflets containing Mr. Jonathan’s achievement’s and 7 reasons why Jega must be removed.
Yes, politics has become a very desperate/dirty game in Nigeria, however it's very pathetic that violence will be openly employed by the ruling party who has now joined forces with the OPC, all in the name of campaigning. It's one thing to protest, but with weapons? Only God can save Nigerians.
